Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have begun preparations for a joint opera performance, which will become an important milestone in the development of cultural cooperation between the two countries. This was reported by the director of the Tajik State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. Aini, Kamoliddin Saifiddinzoda.

The project is being implemented with the support of the leadership of both countries and is an unprecedented initiative aimed at strengthening cultural ties. According to Saifiddinzoda, thanks to the wise policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, bilateral relations in the humanitarian and cultural spheres have reached a new level.

"We want to contribute to strengthening the spiritual unity of our peoples by creating a stage production with a bright national flavor. The opera will reflect high feelings – love, friendship, devotion to duty and patriotism," he noted.

Director of the Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater Ramiz Usmanov added that a production team has already been formed, which includes representatives of the artistic management of both theaters. The participation of a symphony orchestra, opera soloists, an academic choir and ballet dancers from both countries is expected. Negotiations with the authors of the libretto are in an active phase.

The joint project became a logical continuation of the fruitful cooperation between the two theaters. On May 22 and 23, the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Uzbekistan toured on the stage of the S. Aini Theater.

The creative delegation arrived in Dushanbe in an expanded composition. The audience was presented with arias from the works of Tchaikovsky, Gounod, Verdi, Leoncavallo, Puccini and other classics. The ballet evening was a particular success, during which scenes from the ballets Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Scheherazade and Romeo and Juliet were shown.

The Uzbek troupe dedicated the gala concert to the memory of outstanding stage masters: choreographer Yuri Grigorovich and ballerina Malika Sabirova.

The basis for the cultural exchange was the Memorandum of Cooperation signed in June 2023 between the heads of the theaters. The document provides for the implementation of joint projects, holding master classes and the exchange of artists.

According to the organizers, the creation of a joint opera will become a symbol of cultural rapprochement and friendship between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
