In the Dusti district of Khatlon region, the harvest of melons and gourds is actively underway, reported the head of the district agricultural department Shamsiddin Eshbekov.
According to him, field work has been going on for almost a month. First, farmers collected khandalak, then melons, and now the first batches of watermelons are arriving at the markets. Melons are grown on more than 900 hectares of land of the district's dehkan farms.

"We select early-ripening and disease-resistant varieties of watermelons every year. This allows us to be among the first to begin supplying fresh produce to the domestic market," Eshbekov noted.
Watermelons, melons and khandalak are currently being actively sold in the markets of Tajikistan. In the near future, as reported by the district agricultural department, the export of melons outside the country will also begin.
Thanks to the warm spring and the use of modern farming methods, a high harvest is expected this season.
