The first match of the regional football league dedicated to World Football Day took place at the Central Stadium of Khorog on the evening of May 22. The match featured teams "Khulbuk" from Vose district and "Pamir" from Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). This was reported by the executive body of state power of GBAO.
The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the Chairman of GBAO Alisher Khudoberdi Mirzonabot, who congratulated those present on World Football Day and the beginning of a new stage in the development of sports in the region. He noted that the match became possible thanks to the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the support of the Government of the Republic and the personal contribution of the President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan and the Football Association of Central Asia Rustam Emomali.

“The creation of a regional football league, as well as the formation of the GBAO national team, are clear examples of the revival and development of football at all levels,” Mirzonabot said.
He emphasized that with the adoption by the UN General Assembly of a resolution declaring May 25 as World Football Day, a new page has opened in the development of sports and state policy in the field of physical culture in Tajikistan.
Over the past three years, dozens of sports facilities have been built and put into operation in the cities and districts of GBAO, including large stadiums, football pitches and sports halls, many of which are adapted for mini-football and futsal.

The game itself was a tense and spectacular struggle. Both teams demonstrated a high level of preparation and the will to win. In the end, the Hulbuk team from Vose won with a score of 2:0, bringing the first points in the tournament table.
The football match attracted great interest from local residents and attracted hundreds of fans, which confirms the growing popularity of football in the region.
