The second meeting of heads of customs services in the “Central Asia – China” format, organized by the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held on May 22 in Almaty, the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.
The event, which was attended by heads of customs services of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, became an important milestone in the development of multilateral customs cooperation between the countries of the region.
The meeting participants paid special attention to digitalization and the introduction of innovative technologies in the customs sphere, where each country presented its experience and achievements in the field of automation of customs processes.
A significant part of the discussion was devoted to improving the management of checkpoints and optimizing border control procedures, practical aspects of coordinating the actions of customs services at common borders and increasing the throughput capacity of border crossings.
A separate block considered issues of human resource development, including programs for the exchange of experience, advanced training of customs officers, and the organization of joint educational initiatives.
During the meeting, draft documents for signing at the upcoming Second Central Asia – China Summit were also discussed, which emphasized the strategic importance of the customs dimension of regional cooperation.
The productive work resulted in the signing of three key documents that consolidated the agreements reached, including: the minutes of the second meeting of the heads of customs services of the Central Asia – China format – the main document recording the results of the meeting and plans for further cooperation; the Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in the field of non-intrusive inspection and intelligent image recognition – an agreement on the implementation of advanced inspection technologies and the joint use of innovative customs control systems and the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of customs risk management – a document defining the principles of coordination and exchange of information to improve the effectiveness of the risk management system.
