The first unit of the hydroelectric power station (HPP) under construction "Sebzor" in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) of the Republic of Tajikistan will be put into operation in June 2025. This was announced by representatives of the project during the visit of the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma to the Roshtkala district, the press service of the ministry reports .
As specified by the specialists, 85% of construction works have been completed to date. Currently, active preparations are underway for the commissioning of the first unit with a capacity of 3.6 MW.





“We are taking all necessary measures to put the first unit into operation as early as June of this year,” representatives of the contracting organizations said in a conversation with the minister.
The Sebzor hydroelectric power station is being built on the Shokhdara River and will have a total capacity of 11 MW. Once completed, it will provide a 25% increase in the energy potential of GBAO, which will significantly increase the reliability of energy supply to the region, especially in winter.





During the visit, the Minister of Energy inspected the main construction sites, held a working meeting with engineers and contractors, and noted the importance of meeting deadlines and quality standards. According to him, the launch of the Sebzor HPP is part of the government's comprehensive program for the sustainable development of energy infrastructure in remote areas of the country.
The construction of the station is being carried out within the framework of Tajikistan’s strategy for the rational use of hydro resources and strengthening the country’s energy independence.
