Israeli forces have begun demolishing an Indonesian hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, trapping at least 55 people, including medical staff, inside the building, Al Jazeera reported.
According to the source, Israeli troops attacked the hospital gates and used a bulldozer to destroy the northern wall of the facility, effectively trapping those inside. Among those trapped were four doctors and eight nurses, as well as patients and staff.
Shots were heard in the area surrounding the hospital, indicating ongoing fighting in the area.
Earlier it became known that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began large-scale ground operations in the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip as part of a military campaign codenamed "Gideon's Chariots." According to a statement by the military command, Israeli forces will continue offensive operations against terrorist groups, including Hamas, which, according to their data, are located in the Strip.
On May 13, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israeli troops would enter the Gaza Strip in the coming days “with full force” in order to completely defeat Hamas. He stressed that the fighting would not stop until complete victory was achieved.
Meanwhile, on the diplomatic front, reports emerged that US envoy Robert Witkoff had offered Israel and Hamas an updated version of the Gaza deal aimed at stabilizing the region and easing the humanitarian crisis.
