Industrial production continues to play a key role in ensuring sustainable economic growth in Tajikistan. According to the Statistics Agency, in the first quarter of 2025, industrial enterprises and private manufacturers produced goods worth 13.85 billion somoni, which is 23.4% more than in the same period last year, NIAT Khovar reports.
Industrial development remains one of the state’s priorities. In accordance with the decree of President Emomali Rahmon, 2022–2026 have been declared “Years of Industrial Development,” and accelerated industrialization has been defined as the fourth national goal. This underlines the importance of the industry in creating jobs, increasing exports, and strengthening the country’s economic stability.
Key growth indicators:
Mining industry — growth by 1.8 times. Production amounted to 4.62 billion somoni. The production of coal and boron (+30%), metal ores (by 1.7 times), and other minerals (by 1.5 times) increased.
Manufacturing industry – growth of 2.1%, production volume reached 6.49 billion somoni.
Energy and ecology – the sector of production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air purification grew by 10%, the volume reached 2.66 billion somoni.
Water supply, waste disposal and recycling – growth was 28.3%, with a volume of 78.8 million somoni.
Regional distribution of industrial production:
Sughd region – 60.8% of the total industrial volume, 1242 enterprises.
Khatlon region – 19.8%, 866 enterprises.
Dushanbe – 21.7%, 822 enterprises.
Districts of republican subordination – 18.7%, 708 enterprises.
GBAO – 3.8%, 142 enterprises.
In total, in the first quarter of 2025, 3,780 industrial enterprises operated across the country, of which 3,257 were in the manufacturing industry.
Experts emphasize that the industrial sector remains a key indicator of economic activity and a platform for the formation of production chains within the country. Efficient use of natural resources and investment in processing are the basis for further growth.
