The authorities of the Sughd region of Tajikistan intend to increase the volume of storage and export of early onions abroad. This was reported by the press service of the regional administration following the working visit of the chairman of the Sughd region Rajabboy Akhmadzoda to the Jabbor Rasulov district, the press service of the district administration reports.
As noted, during the visit, the head of the region got acquainted with the activities of a large onion reception, storage and packaging facility located in the village of Mekhrobod. The enterprise was founded in 2016 by entrepreneur Mirjamol Djamolov and was put into operation in 2021 with the participation of the country's President Emomali Rahmon.

According to the district administration, the modern logistics complex occupies an area of 1.17 hectares and includes two specialized storage areas. The enterprise is focused on the reception, sorting, storage and packaging of onions with subsequent shipment for export, mainly to the Russian Federation. In May and June alone, it is planned to process and ship over 6 thousand tons of products here. In the autumn months – October and November – about 1 thousand tons of onions are stored for the domestic market for the winter period.
Currently, there are nine large onion storage points in Jabbor Rasulov district, which serve farms and entrepreneurs. Products from these bases are supplied to Russia and Kazakhstan. The main flow of onions comes from the southern regions of the republic, in particular, from Shakhritus, Jaykhun districts and the city of Tursunzade.
As of May 10, more than 2.1 thousand tons of early onions have already been accumulated in the district's storage facilities. About 800 seasonal jobs have been organized in logistics centers with the prospect of increasing the number of workers to 1.7 thousand people during peak periods.
At the end of the visit, Rajabboy Akhmadzoda instructed the relevant services and local authorities to take measures to increase the volume of early onion exports, improve working conditions and provide comprehensive support to entrepreneurs and farms.
