By June 1, 2025, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan plans to approve and begin implementing a plan to connect 3,300 facilities to the heating networks of the city of Dushanbe, reports NIAT Khovar.
The corresponding task is defined within the framework of the “Action Plan for the timely preparation of the economic and social sectors of the republic for stable and effective work in the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026”, approved by the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan dated March 28, 2025.
The document provides for an instruction to the relevant ministries and departments to ensure the preparation of the heat supply system as soon as possible, including technical inspection, restoration and expansion of existing heat networks. The connection of new facilities – residential buildings, social institutions, administrative buildings – should increase the efficiency of energy use and reduce the load on the power grid in winter.
According to energy authorities, during the winter period, the level of electricity consumption in Dushanbe more than doubles, which creates additional pressure on the country's overall energy system. In this regard, increasing the share of thermal energy in the capital's energy supply system is considered a strategic measure to reduce overall electricity consumption, especially during peak hours.
The use of thermal energy generated by centralized networks will save significant amounts of electricity, which, in turn, will contribute to a more even distribution of resources across the country's regions, ensuring a stable energy supply throughout the republic during the cold season.
Work to prepare for the heating season is under the special control of the country's Government and is part of a comprehensive strategy to ensure energy security and sustainable functioning of infrastructure.
