A study conducted by the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights and UNICEF found that one in ten children in Kazakhstan has sent their photos to strangers. The study, called "Online Kids in Kazakhstan," was conducted in 2024 with the participation of 1,200 children.
According to the study, every tenth child sent photos at the request of strangers, and every eleventh girl, having met a stranger on the Internet, went to meet him. 3% of children had communication with these strangers. Nasymzhan Ospanova, head of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights, emphasized the importance of trusting relationships between parents, teachers and children to prevent such cases.
The main reason for the vulnerability of children in Kazakhstan, according to her, is the decrease in parental responsibility, especially at the age of 15-17, when teenagers often hide information from loved ones. In 2024, 98 thousand administrative fines were imposed on parents for children walking at night without adult supervision.
The committee also reports the creation of psychological support centers in each region. These centers provide assistance to both parents and children from schools and colleges. Since the beginning of 2025, these centers have received 600 thousand requests. Each school has psychological and pedagogical support centers for parents. QR codes have also been posted, and the 111 call center continues to operate, having received 74 thousand requests in four months of 2025, including 300 calls regarding domestic or street violence.
