The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Representative Office in the Republic of Tajikistan handed over 227 CPAP devices and 300 oxygen concentrators with additional accessories to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of the country, the press service of the ministry reported .
The equipment handover ceremony took place on May 6 this year in Dushanbe. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Shodikhon Jamshed, Head of the UNICEF Office in Tajikistan Ozonia Ojello, as well as development partners.





During the event, Shodihon Jamshed expressed gratitude for the long-term and fruitful cooperation with UNICEF, noting that this assistance is a continuation of sustainable partnerships and a contribution to strengthening the capacity of the country's healthcare system.
According to him, the provided CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machines and oxygen concentrators are intended to provide assistance to newborns with breathing problems, as well as patients requiring oxygen therapy.





"The equipment will be distributed among 73 neonatal care facilities across the country. In addition, training courses are planned for medical personnel on the operation of the equipment and respiratory care for newborns," Jamshed noted.
UNICEF Representative Ozonia Ojello stressed that the organization will continue to support the health system of Tajikistan as part of efforts to reduce child mortality and improve the quality of health care.
