The first meeting of the Coordinating Council for Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea was held at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan. The event was chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amoni and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Tajikistan Chung Soon Sik, the press service of the department reported .
The meeting was attended by representatives of key ministries – energy and water resources, agriculture, industry and new technologies, transport, as well as representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Speaking at the meeting, Zavqizoda emphasized that thanks to the strategic course of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, a solid foundation has been created for comprehensive cooperation with the Republic of Korea.





“Today we are seeing a steady growth in trust and partnership, and the Republic of Korea has proven itself to be a reliable and long-term partner of our country,” the minister said.
According to him, over the past ten years, the volume of Korean investment projects in Tajikistan has reached 73 million US dollars. Among the priority areas were digitalization of public services, green energy, agro-industrial complex, infrastructure and education.
During the meeting, the Tajik side presented a number of initiatives, including the creation of a Digital Services Center under the ministry, the construction of solar power plants in remote areas, the construction of modern greenhouse complexes, the strengthening of river banks and the modernization of the irrigation system. A proposal was also made to create a joint industrial park in free economic zones and the development of export logistics.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a regular dialogue to monitor the implementation of projects and expand partnership in the economic sphere.
