On May 7, 2025, in Milan, Italy, within the framework of the 58th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank, the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Hokim Kholikzoda held a meeting with the President of the Asian Development Bank Masato Kanda, the press service of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan reports.

During the meeting, the parties discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank, and special attention was paid to supporting investment projects in the energy sector, in particular the continuation of the construction of the Rogun HPP. Asian Development Bank President Masato Kanda once again confirmed the bank's readiness to provide US$500 million for the implementation of this important project.
It was noted that the timely implementation of the Rogun HPP construction project will contribute to achieving the common goals of providing cheap and "green" electricity, sustainable water management, reducing the risks of floods and droughts, and reducing carbon emissions into the atmosphere. This will also create conditions for accelerated digitalization, industrialization of the country and the creation of thousands of new jobs.
The parties also agreed to include in the new Partnership Strategy between Tajikistan and ADB for 2026–2030 the financing of priority investment projects in the fields of energy, transport, tourism, education, healthcare, agriculture and ecology, taking into account the digitalization of these sectors.
It should be noted that the Asian Development Bank is one of Tajikistan’s key development partners. Since 1998, the bank has financed more than 200 projects worth over $2.7 billion. ADB currently supports 19 projects in the country worth over $1 billion.
