The Dushanbe authorities have allocated more than 300 thousand somoni for material incentives for participants and disabled veterans of World War II. This was reported on Monday by the information department of the office of the mayor of Dushanbe.
“In accordance with the decree of the Chairman of the City of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali, 304,400 somoni were allocated from the reserve fund of the capital’s administration to support war veterans living in the city,” the statement said.
According to the document, each participant and disabled person of the Second World War living in Dushanbe will be awarded 25 thousand somoni. In addition, 800 somoni will be received by:
- persons awarded military orders and medals for work in the rear during the war,
- citizens who worked in the rear for at least six months during the period 1941–1945,
- disabled people affected by military action in Afghanistan,
- as well as persons who became disabled as a result of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident.
Rustami Emomali instructed the responsible structures to hand over the funds to the recipients personally, by visiting war veterans and disabled people at their place of residence, no later than May 7.
This decision is timed to coincide with Victory Day, which is celebrated annually in Tajikistan on May 9.
