The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan held a Forum of Young Volunteers under the motto “We are the followers of the Leader of the Nation,” the press service of the department reported.
The event was chaired by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin and the Chairman of the Committee on Youth and Sports Affairs Gulamkhadzoda Zulfikor Akhmad. The forum was attended by dozens of young volunteers representing various sectors of the economy and the social sphere.

The main goal of the meeting was to strengthen the patriotic spirit of youth, popularize the achievements of independent Tajikistan and highlight the contribution of the country's President Emomali Rahmon to the development of the state.
"As the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon emphasizes, it is the youth that is the reliable support for the future of the country. We will continue to pay special attention to young people," Zavqizoda noted in his speech.
The Minister shared with the forum participants his personal experience of becoming a leader within the framework of the head of state’s “school of statehood” and spoke about the country’s key achievements over the years of independence.
According to him, over the past 25 years, Tajikistan's GDP has increased from 1.8 billion to 153.4 billion somoni, or 85 times. GDP per capita has grown from 289 somoni to 14.8 thousand somoni, and population income – from 1 billion to 147 billion somoni, that is, 147 times.
The poverty rate during this period decreased from 83% to 20.4%. More than 2,550 km of roads, over 2,000 megawatts of new energy capacity, including two units of the Rogun hydroelectric power station, 3,670 new schools and 3,076 medical institutions were built.
Tajikistan, despite external challenges, is recognized by international structures as a country with a high rate of economic development.
The Chairman of the Committee for Youth and Sports Affairs, Gulamkhadzoda, in turn, emphasized the role of volunteers in the implementation of public, environmental and social initiatives.
At the end of the forum, participants were advised to increase civic and political vigilance, actively participate in strengthening independence, and fulfill their professional and civic duties with the utmost responsibility.
