As a result of many years of research by Kyrgyz historian Narynbek Alymkulov, it was possible to establish the names of seven more residents of Kyrgyzstan who were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, Fergana.ru reports with reference to 24.kg.
Archival documents confirmed that these people were called to the front from the territory of Kyrgyzstan and/or lived and died in the republic after the war.
The findings were reported by colleagues of the scientist, who died in 2022. The results of his work have only become known now. Previously, 73 Heroes from Kyrgyzstan were mentioned in literature and textbooks, but now their number has reached 80.
Among the newly established names:
Maxim Alekseev (1911–1986), buried in Bishkek;
Nikolai Andreev (1905–1974), buried at the Ala-Archinsky cemetery;
Pyotr Dernov (1925–1945), drafted from the Frunze region;
Pyotr Sidorov (1926–1972), served in the internal affairs agencies of the city of Frunze (now Bishkek);
