In Kyrgyzstan, police officers detained YouTube blogger Aitilek Orozbekov on suspicion of inciting ethnic hatred. This was reported by the Akipress agency with reference to the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs (GUVD) of the Chui region.
It is noted that during monitoring on the Internet, a YouTube channel was found that posted videos about "checks" that the suspect carried out in various catering establishments. An examination found that these videos contained signs of inciting ethnic hatred and a criminal case was opened, and on May 6, the suspect was detained. He had a previous conviction.
According to the police, the suspect "checked" more than 50 establishments, in particular cafes, food outlets, shopping malls, etc. It was alleged that during the raids on retail outlets, he questioned the sellers why they spoke a particular language, and also tore down Russian-language signs in stores and cafes. Director of the public foundation "Institute for the Development of Public Relations of Central Asian Countries" Kaldan Ernazarova previously shared her opinion with TASS that the activities of such patrols must be stopped.
