A solemn ceremony of accepting the Victory Relay, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, was held in the administrative center of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, the city of Khorog. This was reported by the regional administration.
The event is being held on the initiative of the Council of Commanders of the Border Troops of the CIS Member States. It is intended to perpetuate the memory of the feat of soldiers and home front workers, as well as to emphasize the continuity of generations, the unity of peoples and the inviolability of the fraternal ties of the Commonwealth countries.
After laying wreaths at the Unknown Soldier Memorial, GBAO Chairman Alisher Mirzonabot noted in his welcoming speech that the Victory Relay has become a symbol of friendship, unity and humanitarian cooperation between the CIS countries. He emphasized that May 9 is a day of remembrance and respect for those who gave their lives for a peaceful future for humanity.










The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Border Troops of the CIS countries, including the delegation of the Russian Federation headed by the head of the group of Russian border guards in Tajikistan Rim Gelmonov. He noted that such events contribute to the strengthening of diplomatic and cultural ties between peoples and educate young people in the spirit of patriotism.
Major General Turabek Kamol Nazarzoda, head of the Border Troops Group of the State Committee for National Security of Tajikistan, emphasized that the participation of Tajik citizens in the war and their return with Victory is the greatest achievement, and the feat of veterans is an example of courage and honor.
The Chairman of the Council of Veterans of War and Labor of GBAO Mamadnasim Gavkharov also made a ceremonial speech. The participants of the event, including schoolchildren, read poems dedicated to the feat of soldiers under the slogan "Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten."
The ceremony ended with a concert program prepared by artists from the region.
