A bilateral meeting of representatives of customs authorities of Tajikistan and Iran took place within the framework of the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Joint Commission of the two countries, which was held from May 5 to 7 in Shiraz. This was reported by the press center of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of customs cooperation, including information exchange, joint fight against smuggling and simplification of customs procedures. Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation, implementing specific measures to promote the development of foreign trade between the two countries.
It should be noted that on January 16, 2025, Tajikistan and Iran signed 23 new cooperation documents, including the Memorandum on Training between the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This memorandum is aimed at developing cooperation in the field of customs, including organizing joint trainings and exchanging experience between customs officials of the two countries.
Also, as part of expanding bilateral cooperation, Tajikistan and Iran discussed plans to increase trade turnover, which also includes the development of transport infrastructure and simplification of the visa regime between the countries.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran.
